Sunday Song (photo) Shoot

Sunday Song, (photo) Shoot.

Next Sunday you can select one of two songs.  Or you can select both if you are ambitious.  Does anyone remember the Cowsills?  Don't ask me about them! I can simply tell you they were a family who sang together and I really loved this first song when I was a pre-teen ... errr, I meant when I was a BABY.  (you DO believe that, right?)

The songs:
Hair (which they did a single but, it's also from the soundtrack Hair)

The idea is to get or take a photograph that you think would/could represent the title of the song.  If you want EXTRA KUDOS you can read the lyrics (click on the song title) and try to get/take a photograph that you feel would depict the meaning of the song.

Can you guess which one I chose?  Hair

Just to remind myself

That this horrible cold winter will end and there will be flowers again.

JLand Photo Shoot

Thanks to all of you who played along last week.  We had our biggest turnout ever with 37 participating bloggers!  I hope you'll continue to play this week also, and that you will find this week's subject interesting.

This week's JLand Photo Shoot will begin today (Monday) and is due on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 PM EST.  That's Saturday night for those of you who are getting confused!

Our subject this week is:

Old

You may interpret this any way you like.  Suggestions:  trees, people, antiques, etc.

This week we are going to have a rule.  You can snap the photo this week, or you can pull out a photo that you have taken in the past.  But please make sure it is a photo that you have taken yourself, so you can showcase your photography.  That's the only rule.  Thanks so much!  :)

After you've posted your entry in your journal/blog, please put the address to your entry in my Comments Section below.  If you need an explanation on how to do this, or need to know any other instructions concenerning this photo shoot, please click on the link below.

Below I have an old Oak tree.

             And Old clothes pins.

And last, the old homested.  Real old homested.

Very Old 1919 Roseville Tourist Jardiniere

Dark Trees

into the shadows flitting and fleeting my fears hide
behind each tree who's shadow grows longer
with the setting sun while my fears grow
in length with creeping darkness
of evenings end.
to completely dissolve with suns slow descent into
my fearful imagination.

The End

Dirty Snow & Posey's in the Snow

I saw these snow drifts and yelled, stop the car, stop the car.  Like meringue  on a  lemon pie!

In black and white, dirty snow made interesting by the recent winds and melt.

Trying my filter in different positions.

Another one, stop the car, stop the car.  Something about old fences.

And then just a negative of the post because I liked it that way.

And then Posey's in the Snow.  The filter made them a weird color so I made the color even weirder.  I decided their wonderful color should color their world, color the white snow.

Winter Shots

Since I was ill I didn't get to enter the next challenge but from what I have seen there are some wonderful shots out there so everyone make sure and do the rounds and see the talent.

However I was feeling better today and we had a heat wave so I did get out and do some shooting.  As usual I took more picture then necessary but some I really like.  I did some in black and white and messed around with some I didn't like in by looking at them a different way.  The first couple are my favorites.

I liked the starkness of this.  The lone tracks passing by the empty swing.  Bleak

Another from the playground.  They just look so sad not used.

A little color makes it look more inviting and you can see the footsteps have gone right up to the swings.

Now this tree I saw from up on the hill and I just loved the way the shadow looked.  I have it done 3 different ways.  I like all 3.  It was in my favorite cemetery.  First in color

  Next black and white.

And last framed.  Anyone know of a good program on line to put frames on?

Still in the cemetery this is one I messed with the color but I really like the effect.

The next 2 are kind of 2 different views.  Are you near sided or far sided?

And then last one I would have maybe entered in the community photo contest if I hadn't been so sick and able to get out.  I took this shot because this reminds me of my hometown from when I was young in the winter.  Not many new houses around and gentle rolling corn fields put to bed for the winter.  I decided old fashion album edges looked best with this.  And of course black and white to date it from my younger days.

JLand Photo Shoot #126

Thanks again to all of you who played along this past week.  We had 22 participants!  I hope to see lots of photos this week also.  The subject is going to be a fun and interesting one.

This week's JLand Photo Shoot will begin today (on Monday) and is due on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 PM EST.  That's Saturday night, for those of you who are getting confused!

Our subject this week is:

Black and White

You may interpret this subject any way you like.

You may want to photograph a black and white scene.  Or for those of you who would like, you may want to convert a shot from color to greyscale or black and white.

The photo below was taken with my Cannon, pre-digital when I was first learning to use it.  I had it loaded with black and white film.  In memory of my mother in law this is my photo for this Shoot.

Darn AOL

I am just having the worse time with AOL right now.  I can't tell you how many times I tried to get this entry in.   When I visit a journal I have to refresh about 5 times to get it to load.   Very frustrating.  I have tried to visit everyones journal in the last photo shoot from Krissy but sometimes it wouldn't let me leave a comment.  AAARRRGGGGHHHHH.    So sorry about that everyone.  I loved everyones shots.  I hope I can even post this and I hope this improves shortly.  I hope its not just my journal.  So anyway sorry about not personally leaving a comment and thanks for all the wonderful comments on my last shot.  If you haven't been to Devils Tower you should try to get there at least once.  So cool.

(Late entry.   Thank you all for the wonderful comments on my deer shots.  As Greg knows I am over run with them and could get 100 shots a day just by sitting in my back yard.  They do make good photo subjects though and I love taking their pictures.)

Thanks to all of you who played last week!  We had our largest turn out ever with 25 participants!  Let's continue the fun this week.

This week's photo shoot will begin today (on Monday) and be due on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 11 PM EST.

Our subject this week is:

The letter "T"... begins with T or find an object resembling the letter

Devils Tower.  In Wyoming.  If you look close you can see people climbing it.  Remember the movie Close Encounters?  This is this place.  Didn't see any spaceships when we were there though.

Even marbles

I have some marbles I have been looking at.  This is a better way to really see them.  This should work OK for Krissy's Photo shoot.

photo shoot #124

This week we have a brand new logo made by Valerie!  To my knowledge, this photo shoot has been the longest running in JLand, hence its new name!  A new name and a new look for a new year!  Thanks to all of you who have played along since this photo shoot's inception (2004), and I hope you continue to get enjoyment for a long time to come!

This week's photo shoot will begin today (on Monday) and be due on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 11 PM EST

Our subject this week is:  a close up (interpret this to be as close as you like)

Very few things escape my camera, LOL.

Beginnings.

I love the idea of the new community Photo Challenge.   These are all last years pictures but they all show new beginnings.  I will get more creative with my borders as I am anxious to get back to taking the pictures I love.

Community Photo Challenge_Beginnings

Community Photo Challenge-"BEGINNINGS"

Here are the rules :

Community Photo Challenge-"BEGINNINGS"

To start off the New Year & a New Photo Challenge we have decided to make the first challenge "BEGINNINGS" Any goes as long as it represents beginnings.  New baby, budding flowers, baby birds, sunrises...You can use your own file photo(past photos) for this one.  Not many rules here. Try to be creative--presentation is important, even if you just add a small border around the photo so it doesn't get lost on the background of your journal.
