Krissy :)photo scavenger hunt #86

For this week I have a couple of pictures I like.  They were taken over the last few weeks as it is way too hot to go far.

First my wonderful and dear friend, Zoey.  The loveseat is covered because as a puppy she pretty much destroyed it and the matching couch was totaled, still love her though, especially now that she has calmed down.

Next I have another fawn picture.  This little fawn was so curious as to what I was doing it kept getting closer and closer.  The mother started snorting and pawing at the ground, my hint to beat a hasty retreat before she assisted me along the way.

The last couple are just some flower pictures but I like the way they turned out.

Last but still a picture I like because Doves always seem so peaceful to me.  The truth is we get alot of them around the feeders and they fight the whole time.

OK that's all.  Sorry about so many. I know it take them awhile to load.  Maybe not if you have cable.  Have I mentioned before I take alot of pictures?

Monday Photo shoot.

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Show us something interesting on the porch or patio of your house or apartment. For those of you with neither, fire escapes and window sills will suffice.Your Monday Photo Shoot: On Your Porch/Patio

Ok I went out on my porch and looked around.  Mostly I have a ton of flowers and house plants, so many I have people use the back door!

I also saw a really big cricket which hopefully won't find a way in the house.

Cicada Files

It is cicada season and the trees are alive with the large winged insect.   I love them.  The pictures below are in my pear tree.  They seem to like it.

Ok, now I know this isn't a cicada but I like this picture and thought I would throw it in.

Looks cool the next way also.

Photo Scavenger Hunt # 85

Krissy's hunt for this week is glass

       http://journals.aol.com/fisherkristina/SometimesIThink/entries/1117

.    We have a couple of buildings that are all glass and I though would look nice.  I like the reflections in them.  I wish I could have been there last week to get a night shot with the fireworks reflected in them but alas had to work.  The last is the glass of our new art center, I like that also.

The baby deer are back

2 Baby fawns showed up today.  I didn't have time to set up the picture and make sure it was focused well because they are alittle flighty when they are young.  Not sure if they are Mommy Deerest babies as the mother was in the woods.  If I had tried to approach the babies I bet I would have found out real soon who the mother was, LOL

My favorite dragonfly posed for some more pictures.  Its hard to get most bugs to sit still, this one poses.

Monday Morning Photo Shoot

It is time for the monday morning photo shoot.   I had quite a few that I thought looked good but 2 I will post.    I didn't do one last week, my work week so 2 this week is good, right!   Anyway the rules are below.

By The Way...
Subject: Your Monday Photo Shoot: Life in Negative
Author: johnmscalzi
"Time for your Monday Photo Shoot, and this time, I thought we'd try something just a little different, which will require the use of some photo tools:

Your Monday Photo Shoot: With photo editing tools, take a picture of yours and turn it into a negative. The idea here is not to take just any picture, mind you, but one that you think will look particularly striking with its colors inverted.

Since Mommy Deerest has been hanging around being pesky lately I got a picture of her that looks good in a negative way.  Shows all her scars and nicks.  She is getting to be an old lady.

I also like the looks of this pivot irrigator shooting its stream of water.  The corn looks good in negative also.

Did I say 2?  I mean't 3 because, well because I like this one also.  But this is it, really!

Night shots

I still haven't figured out how to get my night shots.  I took quite a few on our night bike ride last night and they didn't turn out.  I will have to read the book again.  I did get some sunset pictures that were nice.  Not techically perfect because I don't think your suppose to have that ring around the moon but it gives it a neat effect, like a rainbow and I love the way the clouds look.

I have 2 different pictures below.  The sun is slightly lower in the 2nd and changes the color slightly.   I like that one best.

It was pretty dark when I took the picture of the water tower,  this is the only picture that turned out I took in the dark.

Is this Weller

I am posting this here because I can't get the picture to link to the auction site.  So the question is, is this Weller's Forest?  I can't find my book and it isn't marked on the bottom.  There is a 15 in ink under the glaze but no other marks.

Just a few more

This is Mommy Deerest.  She isn't scared of us and usually brings her new babies for us to admire.  None this year.  Did they die already or is she getting old and can't attract a mate anymore?  She is covered in ticks and I wish I could go up to her and pull them out.  She will let you get close but not that close.  Wonder how many more years we will see her around.

This old grape vine has some great looking leaves.  We got just enough rain to make them glisten and the sun was pretty good as it set.

Cemetary shots

I love cemetaries,  old headstones, past history, the mood.  If they don't bother you check out my other journal.  http://journals.aol.com/midwestvintage/BikeRideAroundSiouxCity/

still shots

                               Dragonfly on my antenna.

                                               Terminal Grain

                                               After the Rain

                                      Young Squirrel

In case you were wondering where Sgt. Floyd was buried, here it is in Sioux City, Iowa.  Not everyone dies who passes through.

                                             Sleeping Cherub

Last but not least my peppers, looking good!

Trees and things

First of all I would like to say thanks for the nice comments and great tips.  It is very helpful to get the feedback.   The weather was overcast for the most part yesterday but when the sun broke through I got some shots off.   I love cementaries and will be showing some shots from there when I get them in better light.  They used to make such neat headstones.  I did find some great trees as old as the headstones.  Doesn't this tree look like it should have been in the Lord of The Rings?

The next few pictures are of this huge tree.  The last one shows how it has grown around the headstone that was next to it.  The light wasn't as good as the shot above which was perfect but I like this tree.

Not a tree but a really neat headstone.  It is in great shape for being from 1891.

Practicing

I sit in my backyard and wait for things to come to me for their pictures.  Since we feed all the critters they aren't very scared of us so get quite close.  Photo op!  I wanted to see what it would look like black and white.  The color is below

This is a young squirrel that was raiding the feeders.  It is suppose to eat out of the pan on the ground.

Now this little squirrel knows the correct way.

I did this bike with the black and white feature on my camera.  When I get better at using the manual controls I think it will turn out better.  Lighting could be better.

I think I centered these flowers really nicely, pat pat on the back.  So pretty.

I had 8 of these morning doves around the feeders this morning.  They get into the squirrel one as they feed off the ground.
