Monochrome Monday

I like the way this shot turned out in black and white, the sun filtering through and the play of light on the stream turned out pretty nice. When I saw that tree over the stream, bending to the current it seemed, I knew I needed a photo of it. But the color wasn't right, this is I think.

Any Hawk experts out there?

I was wondering if anyone knows why type of hawk or falcon this is. We saw it in South Dakota. You can click on the picture to make it larger.


I heard back from the college and it is a Northern Harrier. Pretty cool.

Straight out of the Camera

For Valentines day yesterday my husband drove me to where we honeymooned 35 years ago. It is still beautiful even in Winter. This is up in South Dakota by the Yankton Dam area

We took a drive out in country after the snow had mostly melted away. The clouds were all puffy and the sky such a pretty blue. And look straight up to see whats in the blue sky. Click on the pictures to view full sized and....

Wild turkeys

Looking out the back window I saw a cat stalking something. So of course I had to check it out. The cat was stalking these large turkeys. It ran up to them and they barely looked up to see what the cat was up to. They towered over this small cat. It ran around there legs awhile and took off before I could get out there with my camera. The turkey are so sure they are able to handle anything they didn't run when I came out either. Neither the cat or I scared them away from the feeders. Ugly birds but cool feathers.

Community Photo Challenge

1. Take a picture of a heart.
Could be something that is in a shape of a heart or small objects making the shape of a heart, a man made heart, not human..... BUT remember is should be something that you would like to see framed in a collage, so a human heart might not work....Ü. Lighting is essential, & clarity is also important. So make sure you use a tripod, or steady your arm on something , so you don't move when you snap the picture. If you don't have enough light, use a flash or take it outside. Filtered sunlight is excellent.
