backyard visitors

The buck in the front charged us right after this shot.  Strangely enough there was a baby with them.  They are usually only seen with the does.  I wonder if that means the mother has been killed?  They were doing an impressive job of protecting it.

What a super photograph Julie!  I reckon it is drawing close to rutting time so the bucks will be protective?    I have never heard of them having a baby in tow like that.
You are so lucky to be able to get such close-ups.

Magical photographs.

What a great photo, those bucks were looking right into your lense. Rutting season is here once again.

I have heard of Does having antlers. Wonder if this could have been a case like that. Wish you could keep and eye on them and see if that baby stays with them. It is a great picture. Helen

Beautiful, Glorious picture. It's something to see the bucks taking over the rearing of the little one. (Hugs) Indigo
