Ok, sick to death of the marble yet, LOL. This is a jar of my FIL's old marbles from the 30's 40's. I antiqued them and added a antique frame. Looks pretty cool if I may say so myself. And I did take this photo a few minutes ago. Ta DA!
They're great Julie, I used to have a collection of different coloured marbles. I remember the old ones were made of marble and not glass. Jeannette xx http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/entries/2008/03/29/aol-community-photo-challenge./2146
Those marbles are nothing at all like the ones that you have been displaying. I bet its quite fun to look at the differences between the finished products from that kind of time period.
Your photos have set me off on a new project. I used to love marbles and had some old ones given to me in the early 60's. Sadly I don't have them any more but after seeing your photos, I've started buying Antique and Vintage marbles from Ebay.
I want Isabella, my 22 month old grandaughter to appreciate all sorts of things from an early age. We played with some this morning, she thought they were "Wow!!"

Wow this is great! Well done Julie. If you get a chance, can you show us the antique marbles in color? Are they different colors like they do now?
